When I dance ‘I’ cease to exist in that moment. I am at once within and without my self. It’s a spiritual journey that is not conquered but experienced.

Bhavana Reddy is an award-winning performer and leading young exponent in the Kuchipudi dance style - one of the original sacred Indian Classical Dance forms. She is a globally renowned artist who has captured audiences worldwide with her precise technique, flawless form, lightning fast agility, and beautiful abhinaya (expressions) in dance.  She has also been appreciated for her music talent and soulful music renditions.  Bhavana is a combination of the elements of Kuchipudi Dance - Natyam (drama) - Natanam (dance) - Sangeetam (music). She has been praised for her flawless footwork; as a marvellous actor with her histrionics; prowess in abhinaya while rendering of singing verses and captivating stage presence. As such, she represents the complete qualities of Kuchipudi dance-drama and has a bright future.

Reddy is the younger daughter and disciple of legendary dancing couple Padma Bhushans Drs. Raja Radha Reddy and Kaushalya Reddy.  What is especially impressive is that despite being the daughter of such well-known artists, Bhavana has managed to carve her own unique niche in the world of Kuchipudi.  Although she may have followed in her parents’ footsteps with their love of dance, she shines bright as a dancer in her own right and is sure to leave a lasting legacy distinct to her.

Despite having won several awards and accolades, Bhavana has remained humble and devoted to the arts.  She is the recipient of the coveted National Award Sangeet Natak Akademi’s Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar - the highest honour for an Indian performing artist under the age of 40.  Due to the extent of her work, the Telugu Cultural Association (Houston, Texas) awarded Bhavana a Lifetime Achievement Award – at such a young age – for her contribution to Kuchipudi dance.  She is also a recipient of the FICCI Young Women Achievers Award and Femina North Powerlist Award.

In a dance career spanning over two decades, Bhavana has toured places such as the USA, Europe, South East Asia, United Arab Emirates, and more. From the tender age of four, she immersed herself in the world of dance and carnatic music.  Her talent was appreciated since then, as she exuded confidence beyond her years every time she ascended the stage and performed.  Bhavana has played lead roles in several productions over the years.  For example, since age 6, she played Krishna executing Makhan Chori, Kalinga Nartana solo, Cheer Haran and Raas Leela in productions like Krishna Leela Tarangini.  At age 7, she played Prahlada in Prahlada Charitam.  Bhavana also plays the iconic Satyabhama in Bhamakalapam (2011) - a role every Kuchipudi artist dreams to perform at least once due to its significance in the Kuchipudi repertoire.  She has had countless other performances as a lead artist - each one capturing the hearts of audiences.

She graduated with a Bachelors degree in Business from the prestigious Lady Sri Ram College for Women (New Delhi), and an Associate of Arts degree in Contemporary Vocals and Independent Artistry at the Musicians Institute (Hollywood) with accolades.

Her talent encompasses both dance and music as well. In 2014, Bhavana released a solo EP, Tangled in Emotions, performed at a Grammy after party, and sang the title song The End in the Hollywood film, Joy Ride 3. She then went on to stage an unprecedented production named Faces combining pure Kuchipudi Indian Classical Dance with Western music. The entire production was executed by her band and was composed, written, choreographed and directed by Bhavana. After this, her father picked her up as assistant choreographer for the Raja Radha Reddy Repertory.

Bhavana is an empaneled artist with India’s official ICCR and Doordarshan panels. She opened her online school of dance in 2020 and teaches online to numerous students from across the world in regular group Kuchipudi Dance classes for the past three years and counting.

Focused on sharing her love of dance, during the pandemic, Bhavana provided sessions and performances in Kuchipudi via Instagram, Facebook, and for many Indian Consulate offices around the USA, India, Europe and Singapore.
